Introduction
Emma Evans is a Newport-based chef, co-founder of The Secret Supper Clwb and founder of the Welsh Mums in Business Network. A highly experienced hospitality professional, Emma has catered for HRH Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex and The Welsh Secretary of State.
Through the Secret Supper Clwb Emma hosts regular live cookery demonstrations at quirky venues in South Wales. Often featuring guest chefs, dinner and live music, these events explore themes such as cooking with unusual meats, matching food with wine and creating inspired sharing boards.
Monthly Supper Clwbs are also held throughout the year by Emma, the dates and locations can be found on the website www.emma-evans.com.
Emma’s success in the hospitality sector is driven by a passion for food which developed from long hours spent with her father in the kitchen of their family-owned hotel. As well as expert skills in cooking with families – including men and children – Emma holds a degree in Hotel Management from the University of Wales Institute. She has a background in sales, recruitment and event management and spent two years in Dubai. Emma describes her cooking style as rustic and bursting with flavour.
In 2008, Emma established the Welsh Mums in Business Network to give home-based self-employed women a forum to meet and develop business, support and networking opportunities.
From January 2014, Emma will represent Wales as a contestant on Sky Living’s competitive cooking show, My Kitchen Rules, which is judged by celebrity chefs, Lorraine Pascale and Jason Atherton.
In her spare time, Emma enjoys keeping fit at the gym. Her determination to keep fit as led her to run half marathons and 10k races, as well as training for her first Tough Mudder later this year. Emma also enjoys spending time with her family, watching her boys play football and rugby and going on walks and cycling.
