From leaving school my education main and skill set was all based around a career in accountancy and my first job after leaving school was within a major UK retail chain doing exactly that. My family history is within the steel industry and a couple of years after beginning my career in accountancy I was approached to become a quality engineer within the steel industry and jumped at the chance to follow in my father’s footsteps.
It was within this role that I had my first contact with global distribution and talking to freight forwarders, importers and exporters. The more I did this the more it interested me, so when an vacancy became available at Eclipse Worldwide I wanted to experience the other side of the coin and become a service provider as opposed to a customer.
Initially I joined Eclipse as a sea freight clerk, my responsibilities soon grew to become warehouse and logistics operator streamlining the existing structure and systems so that the operation ran more efficiently. At the same time I ran a number of key accounts that had import, export, warehouse and logistics requirements.
Having done this for just over 3 years and at the same time obtaining distinction in a BTEC for Multimodal International Freight Procedures, an internal position become available within the sales team at Eclipse and with my logistics experience I felt it was a natural progression to stay within the company, look to promote our services and push the company forward.
Six months into the role and with a good start to my sales career I am confident that we will go from strength to strength and put Eclipse Worldwide at the forefront of forwarding not only in Northampton but across the UK.

My freight career began almost 20 years ago in a telesales role for a global courier company.
Having gained a good understand of the business I was planning to work my way through to the internal sales department and then on into field sales when another opportunity arose. Having been head hunted I left my first freight job and moved to work for a market leading distribution organisation who specialised in the handling of palletised freight across mainland and eastern Europe. I helped start a new branch from the ground upwards and started with just me, my branch manager and a shiny new office and this experience lasted for around 3 years when something closer to home became available. Again it was an opportunity to learn another part of the freight industry and this time I would be working in the UK distribution for a leading UK pallet distribution company.
While here I also gained a knowledge of Irish distribution, warehousing and logistics mad my next move almost 6 years later was into a dedicated Irish distribution company who specialised in moving anything from a carton to a pallet to a full trailer into and out of Northern and Southern Ireland. Just over a year later I joined Eclipse Worldwide and the world of global distribution by air road and sea. Having just completed my 4th year at the company I was promoted to the position of Sales Manager at the start of 2013 and look forward to growing the company throughout the remainder of 2013 and beyond.

My working career started as a Window Dresser in the West End of London in 1981 for some very well known Brands – the recession hit and I had to change career direction. Working with in the industrial area of Wembly Stadium – many a time to the background tunes of Madonna, Michael Jackson practicing, to name a few. I worked in telesales for an Italian company providing Hotels including the Ritz, patisserie products. I moved to Northampton in 1989 and then stated a family in 1993.
Working part time in 1994 after having my children for a Global Freight Forwarder, the role was only temporary however after 5 years I was still there, dealing mainly with airfreight and European road freight data entry. I left as i wanted a full time role, which at that time was unavailable to work for this global company. So I went to work for another, big name in the Global logistic industry. I was mainly involved operationally with European road freight which seemed to be my direction for the next few years.
This company moved from its small premises in Northampton to brand new premises more centrally located where I continued developing my knowledge for the next three years.
An opportunity arose to work with a start up business specialising in UK same day with additional international courier work. I worked in operations and telesales expanding the existing customer based to then being offered a Field Sales position managing the home territory. The business grew quite quickly and subsequently moved to larger premises with the addition of warehouse facilities.
At this point Eclipse were a client of mine, when by a twist of fate, I was offered a Field Sales role In 2008 I joined Eclipse as Sales Executive selling global services by air road and sea.
In July 2013 I will complete my 5th year after many exciting changes and more I’m sure on the way as Eclipse continue to grow!!
