Introduction
Designed and Developed by the German photographer Dr Guido Schoeldgen and his wife Annette. Days At Sea Became an epitome of peace, art and lifestyle.
The lodge opened only in November 2008 and was 5 Star rated by the TGCSA. In August 2009 the famous independent Klocke Book "The 100 most beautiful Hideaways Hotels of the World" stated Days At Sea as one of only three South African places, in the edition of 2010-2011 as well as 2012-2013.
In accordance to its 5 Star grading each suite at Days At Sea offers air conditioning, underfloor heating, a minibar, flat screen TV and DVD player, an Espresso machine, wireless LAN and 24 hour service.
Diners International awarded the wine cellar Platinum as exceeding expectations and British Airways gave and over all 9 of 10 possible points.
The restaurant offers only market fresh products and a light Mediterranean Cuisine. In the lounge area with some Café Del Mar style music our guests can relax with cocktails or health drinks and in the evenings concerts are projected onto a wall while a sky beamer is lightening up the breakers.
Christopher Lorenz' wonderful ceiling painting in the Beauty and Massage Hut and the incredible Sea view helps the Therapist working out your shoulder problems while the monkeys and exotic birds are watching.
There are many activities like golf, scuba diving, tennis, dolphin and whale watching, deep sea fishing, biking and hiking which can be arranged by our manager. Just tell us what you want!
Regrettably we do not accommodate children under the age of 14 years.

“it was lovely having him here for many years and it is sad for us to see him go to cape town – he is one of the important pictographers of our time .
in 1987 at an exhibition in ny i met guido, who has given so much to our art fare and is an inspiration to his followers in art, . the art gallery presented his portraits and nudes of young women from all over the planet and the works were sold out within a week. these works have also been recognized by a record company who have used his images to create a cd-booklet called ‘women’s world voices’. This first issue was unnumbered and very successful, so they produced a number 2, then 3, then 4 and finished off with the wonderful double album – no 5.
these compilations of music and art found their way onto the desk of the well known interior designer and art collector carlo rampazzi who fell in love with guido’s work and brought some of the artworks into the famous private collection of the barilla family in milan.
in one of the architectural digest issues they featured the red zermatt house of the barillas with rampazzi’s interior design and one of guido’s works.
the russian ad issue was on the desk of the owners of the design and art ‘east hotel hamburg’, who met guido in cape town and decided to buy his editions ‘stripes’, ‘times square’, ‘champagne’,the original ‘chinese bicycle’ and a ten by ten meter work called ‘moondance’ for the hotel. this success story goes on and on…
we (the ibiza art fare) were a part of this long chain and we are grateful.â€
guido studied art with prof. weigmann and medicine at the university of duesseldorf/germany. he also designs houses, hotels and gardens all over the world.
guidos work has been published in many magazines and presented in the german, austrian, swiss, canadian, american and south african tv. He has had numerous exhibitions in germany, italy,switzerland, spain, france, usa, canada, south africa, japan etc.
guido lives and works in cape town, south Africa.
