Introduction
Welcome to Carlisle Flight Training
Here at Carlisle Flight Training we are a friendly yet professional family run flight school and aero club with a unique atmosphere dedicated to keeping flying safe, fun and as easy on the wallet as we possibly can.
Alan Rayson, CFI (Chief Flying Instructor) and owner, has been teaching people to fly for nearly 20 years since starting instructing with another local flying school, Cumbria Aero Club, which has now sadly closed. So when the opportunity arose for Alan and his wife Helen to start their own school, they leapt at the chance.
Whether you are looking for a one-off experience (as a gift or for yourself), a new challenge or perhaps the start of a new career, then we can help you, so give us a call or come along and see for yourself.
Perhaps you already have a PPL and you just want to hire one of our aircraft, of your licence has lapsed and you'd like to get flying again? Come and talk to one of our experienced instructors and we'd be delighted to get you airborne.

Meet Our Team (3)
Alan Rayson
Chief Flying Instructor
Alan Rayson
Director, Instructor and Examiner
Alan (Mum) is our Chief Flying Instructor and examiner (flight and ground), he has been flying for over 25 years and with over 6,500 instructional flying hours has quietly sat through many peoples early stages of flying. Alan started his instructing with "Cumbria Aero Club" where he taught both civilians and the RAF Cadets. On a weekend day you can often hear his dulcet tones from the tower as he also does Airground Radio.
Making him a drink is always a good move! (milky coffee no sugar)
