Introduction
Peckham Rye Park and Common is a 113 acre green oasis located between East Dulwich, Nunhead, Brockley and Peckham in SE London.
With the help of The Friends of Peckham Rye and the National Lottery the park has been painstakingly restored to its former Victorian glory and features ornamental gardens, flowing streams, a small woodland area, wild meadow areas and a small lake. There are also numerous new sporting facilities including football pitches with changing rooms, a bowling green and pavilion, a skate park, an adventure playground and an outdoor gym. Other facilities including a community garden and small water-play area are also planned.
If all this is too exhausting, Café on the Rye is the perfect place to recharge your batteries. The Café is a very busy family friendly place, with fantastic views over the common and is conveniently located next to the park entrance and the car park.
The building was commissioned by Southwark Council and designed by local award winning architects Knox Bhavan Architects LLP. Fiona and Andy opened the café in Nov-07. Our menu includes traditional British café classics along side modern European favourites. The focus is free range, fair trade, organic, locally sourced, healthy and made to order.
