Introduction
This course is a 20-week program consisting of 120 class hours across 10 weeks in class and 200 clinical hours outside of class. Students must complete 200 clinical hours before taking the CCHT certification exam. This course will cover numerous topics in detail which include dialysis procedures, complications, pre-dialysis, during dialysis, and post-dialysis procedures.
In addition to the technical aspects of dialysis, standards of care, guidelines for technician professionalism, and how to help patients cope with dialysis are also discussed in detail. This course covers the history of dialysis, the functions of the kidneys, and how dialysis plays a role in people with chronic kidney disease.
