Introduction
The Bujinkan Dojo is a martial arts school founded by Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi of Noda-shi, Chiba, Japan. After inheriting nine ancient martial traditions, Hatsumi Soke has integrated their essential teachings to form essential martial body skills or Budo Taijutsu as it is known in Japanese. This is using the biomechanics of the body in the most natural manner while executing martial technique. This educates the body to adapt naturally and respond appropriately at a habitual level. Needless to say this is not easy but it is what is required in an ever-changing environment. Self-protection in the fullest sense entails using your entire body in your defence so training enhances your capacity to use each individual part of your body. Weapon use becomes a natural extension of the body skills already developed. At my school in South Yarra, training is only available to adults at this stage.
