In 1977 the Blue Ribbon Family Restaurant first opened its doors for business. Since then, the Blue Ribbon has become a landmark. The efforts of the two brothers and their families, combined with a loyal and hard working staff gave way to early recognition. Their belief going into the restaurant business was elementary; what is good for their family is good for their customers. That core value was implemented in their menu and hospitality in the years to come. In 1980 the Blue Ribbon entered their cheesecake at the Finger Lakes Fall Harvest Festival. Among several other competitors the Blue Ribbon placed first. More success followed with first prize awards at the Massachusetts and Vermont Fall Festivals. In 1981, the two brothers took the cheesecake to New York City for a Northeast Regional Bake-Off which won them first prize for 5 consecutive years. In 2002 the Blue Ribbon was recognized by the American Cancer Society as one of the first businesses in the Capital District to become smoke free. In 2005 the Blue Ribbon began using non-trans fat oil. Two years later the use of this type of frying oil was implemented throughout the fast food industry.

Since 1977 we have beeen serving the Capital District proudly. In the rush of business life, we at times fail to say thank you loudly enough.
