Benchmark Archaeology is directed by Richard Cherrington BA, PG Cert, PG Dip Archaeol, ACIfA, FRGS. We are an independent archaeological organisation providing a wide range of archaeological services carried out to the highest professional standards.

Based in Birmingham, we offer a quick response to clients across the UK. We seek to provide our clients with a professional, pragmatic, rapid and cost-effective service. Our archaeological expertise is enhanced by our understanding and practical experience of the construction industry and the development process.
Benchmark Archaeology places a special emphasis on one-to-one communication with our clients and co-
operation with on-site contractors and other specialists.

We specialise in helping our private clients who are often unfamiliar with archaeological or historic/listed building planning conditions.

We welcome enquiries from the private and public sectors as well as private individuals. We will work closely with developers, consultants, curators and the public to provide advice and prevent costly delays ahead of and during the development process, whilst ensuring planning conditions are satisfied, and the archaeological record enhanced.

All projects are carried out in accordance with NPPF and the guidelines and recommendations issued by The Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and Historic England.
