About Us
Surrey Wedding Band, Beats Working, are one of Surrey and Hampshire's finest wedding and party bands. They have over 7 years of experience and their live music covers the best rock, pop and indie classics. Music from the 60's to 2014. The band is a 4-piece act with a really big sound, capable of professionally delivering an unforgettable evening of wedding music or corporate event entertainment. Beats Working always perform with one aim, to get you and your guests up and dancing. The band supply a full PA and lighting system as well as offering an optional full DJ Service.
Booking
When you book Beats Working for your wedding day or party, you can rest assured not only that you and your guests will enjoy an amazing evening of high quality musical entertainment , but also that the band will arrive quietly and promptly as agreed, set up quickly and professionally, and be ready to play when you and your guests are ready to dance. Your wedding reception, party or corporate event is in very safe hands.
The band has a vast amount of experience, playing and will engineer everything we do so that your day proceeds smoothly. We have played in marquees, in stately homes, boats, castles, islands and on indoor and outdoor stages of many different shapes and sizes.
First Dance
We are happy to learn and perform a first dance of your choice, adding a personal touch to your evening. In rare circumstances where your requested song does not suit our instrumentation, we are happy to provide playback of the original recording through our PA.
Set List / Playing Order
The set lists and running order will have been thought about, and carefully chosen to provide music that really flows together well for your guests to enjoy as they celebrate your big day. We will warm them up gently after the first dance, and soon have everyone on the dance floor. We pride ourselves on our ability to get everyone up and dancing and to keep them there as long as possible.
DJ & Background Music
To cover breaks between playing, you may require some pre-recorded music. We can provide this as part of our standard package and the songs that playback can be of our own wide selection, or provided by you. We can accept interval music on CD, memory stick, or MP3 player, or you can just lend us your pre-stocked i-pod on the night, which we can plug into our PA. We can use any device that outputs using stereo minijack, RCA (phono) plugs, or standard 1/4" jacks. If you require the specialist services of an actual DJ to cover breaks in live music, please ask us, and we will be happy to quote for, and arrange for a DJ to arrive with us. Alternatively, you are welcome to book your own DJ services independently of the band.
The band can offer different performance options:
Shorter Showcase Appearance: 1 x 45 or 2 x 45 min sets
Standard Option: 3 x 45 min sets
Extended: 4 x 45 min sets
Additional full DJ service as well as live music.

Just a quick note to say a huge thank you to the band for playing at our wedding at Hill Place on June 1st! From the initial booking to the day of the event, the level of service from you guys were brilliant. On the night, i didnt even notice the guys setting up or leaving - the sign of a well oiled machine ;) The set list was great - learning the first dance song especially for us was brilliant, and sounded great! We really didnt want them to stop - so many of our guests have commented how fab they were! Please feel free to use this on your website etc! I just hope i have another event i can book you for soon :)

Jay Wood
Piano and Keys
Fellow founder member Jay is known for his incredible musicianship and fantastic knowledge of his instrument. He is a very expressive player and dynamic performer and his sound is at the very heart of what Beats Working do.
Stuart Smith
Drummer
Stuart is a wonderful player with great control, groove, flair and feel. He forms the backbone of the Beats Working sound. His work gets everyone up on the floor and keeps the whole band solid as a unit. He also turns out to be an incredible DJ and he brings this very valued mix of skills to the party.
Thom Ashworth
Vocals and Bass
Thom has one of the most unique and powerful voices you will ever hear, mix this with his mastery of multiple musical genres and instruments and an inexhaustible creative drive, he makes one formidable front man for any band..
Tim Benson
Band Manager
Owner of Opus Recording Studios in Surrey, Tim has worked as a musician, producer and sound engineer for over 20 years, working with some of the best names in the business. Tim formed Beats Working 7 years ago from fellow musicians he had met in the studio and they have become firm livelong friends and together formed one of the most entertaining and refined function bands in the South East.
