I very quickly found the experiences challenging and exhilarating, but most importantly I was very good at being a neutral mediator. Over the next few years I participated in numerous IRS mediations or Fast Track Settlement as the IRS calls it. My success record was absolutely outstanding and I had exam managers request my services frequently. In one of my early mediation cases I received the following appreciation letter from the taxpayers’ POA: �Brian, Thank you very much. I wanted to wait until the case was fully closed before sending this email. I want to thank you for your involvement in the case. I felt you were a great mediator and that you were instrumental in helping both sides reach a fair resolution. My taxpayer felt the process was fair as well. I think they were skeptical going in as they felt an IRS agent could not be a fair facilitator, but they were pleased with the process.
