Introduction
Auburn College, CIC, is a community interest company formed under co-operative principles to provide ESOL, BTEC, Skills for Life, and Higher Education courses to British Nationals and EU students. The college is an employee/member run social enterprise centred upon the principles of serving the community by bringing affordable education to those with academic proficiencies, but that are financially challenged and/or contending with learning disabilities.
Auburn College uses the Haven-Empowerment teaching model that has been in development for over three years by our founder, J.P. McLaughlin. The model provides a learning environment that stimulates students, builds self confidence, and empowers them to pursue their chosen carrier path with hope and enthusiasm.
Auburn College can provide an affordable place of study: 1) by not incorporating stock holders with their endless pursuit for maximum returns and dividends; 2) through its horizontal management and compensation structure with close ratio pay caps; and, 3) by reinvesting the retained earnings back in its students via grants and scholarships on a performance/needs basis to reduce tuition cost; outside scholarships sources will further reduce tuition fees. College revenues go to the resources that support our students. With these structures in place the college strategically positions itself as an attractive place of learning and holds a competitive edge to attract students with a passion for learning, as well as the necessary funds to take a proactive roll supporting those suffering with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia.
Auburn College is now in a strategic alliance with the partnership of & TCNN. This coalition affords us the opportunity for marketing, attracting student, traineeships, apprenticeships, cross selling, and networking in the rapid growing Third Sector.
