Introduction
Every eight hours someone sustains a spinal cord injury. Incurring a spinal cord injury is a life changing experience. There is no warning, no preventative medicine, no time to prepare. Spinal cord injuries can happen to anyone – a car accident, falling down the stairs or a bad tackle in a game of rugby.
Aspire is there to support people after their injury to ensure they live a fulfilled and independent life. We provide a nationwide network of support for people with spinal cord injuries stretching from the first day in hospital through to their full integration into society. This is done through a range of practical projects including adapted accessible houses, specialist computer equipment, practical advice and grants for the necessary equipment to lead an independent and fulfilled life.
The Aspire Channel Swim splashes down in pools across the UK this September!
The challenge invites you to swim the distance of the English Channel (22 miles) in the comfort of your local pool. You can swim as an individual, team, family, school or club and you have twelve weeks to complete the distance and help raise money for people with a spinal cord injury.
The Aspire Channel Swim is not only a fantastic challenge and a great way to raise money, it is also a great way to stay in shape, so why not find a local pool and swim those lengths and support a great charity.
