Visit the Salmon Fram in Takaka, Golden Bay to catch your own salmon to have on the spot or take away with you. They hot smoke the fish for you or you can it it raw sashimi sliced with soy sauce and wasabi. The cafe is fully licenced and offers delicious lunch meals or sides dishes to accompany your own salmon catch. Delicious local wine and beer is available for your enjoyment. The coffees are good and you can use their free WIFI facility. Back to the salmon fishing activity.....The entry is free and the fishing gear too. They just charge you for the fish you catch ($22.00 per kg of catch). That's is a very competitive price but don't catch too many or it will be a bit costly. You don't need any experience and staff will explain how to catch the big one. A must-do outdoor activity in the Nelson region where they combine a great activity with fabulous fresh and local food!
