Introduction
For the past 15 years the Alison Appleton Design Studio has worked designing best selling collections for many UK and international manufacturers. This wealth of experience has allowed Alison to explore her own passions and interests. The Alison Appleton range of teawares invites people to take a few precious moments to enjoy time with their loved ones over a perfectly brewed cup of tea.
Each design has a personal story behind it, for example the Emperor’s bird collection is inspired by Hans Christian Anderson’s tale ‘The Nightingale’ a well known children’s story with the morals of honesty, truth and love at it’s core. Parisian tea salons inspired the shape of the Golden Carp teapot. It is engraved with carp, lotus flower and has a golden lid all of which conjure prosperity, harmony and spiritual enlightenment.
Tea connoisseurs will be delighted to find that all of Alison’s teapots come with an integral stainless steel filter enabling you to use any variety of fresh loose leaf tea from Oolong to a traditional English breakfast.
The design studio works using a wide range of material and is constantly looking for new techniques to help us realise our concepts. The current ranges uses porcelain and black clay, reminiscent of Wedgewood’s black basalt.
