Introduction
Adelaide Hills Country Cottages is one of South Australia’s most remarkable tourism business success stories, with an enviable national and international reputation.
Some of the business’ guests have stayed at the Cottages on more than 25 occasions, a testament to the quality of accommodation experience they have previously enjoyed.
The three times Australian Tourism Awards winner, ten times SA Tourism Awards winner and two times SA Tourism Hall of Fame recipient is believed to be one of the first providers of self-catering bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation in Australia.
A 30-minute drive from Adelaide’s CBD, Adelaide Hills Country Cottages comprises five separate and distinctive styles of accommodation on a 87 hectare cattle grazing property and orchard near Oakbank, in the heart of the Adelaide Hills wine region.
The Adcocks’ commitment is to surpassing guests’ expectations by offering them a range of additional “luxuries†otherwise restricted to five-star hotel rooms. Steve and Mandy Adcock took over the reigns 13 years ago when Steve’s parents, Brenton & Gai were looking to slow down a little.
Adelaide Hills Country Cottages have become a favourite base for holiday makers looking for a truly unique accommodation experience amid the countryside that once inspired the famous artist Sir Hans Heysen.
Adelaide Hills Country Cottages comprises:
• Apple Tree Cottage
An historic 1860s English cottage with its own apple orchard. The two-storey building, which has two romantic bedrooms, has been meticulously restored to preserve its charm and heritage.
• Lavender Fields Luxury
French Provincial Style cottage. The ultimate indulgence for one or two couples providing high-end luxury accommodation for the discerning, nestled in a lavender filled garden. Peace, tranquility and indulgence comes naturally at Lavender Fields Luxury.
• Gum Tree Cottage
Offering a traditional Australian experience, Gum Tree Cottage is an early Australian-style stone cottage offering water views, windmill and picturesque valley.
• The Nest
Positioned among gum trees a unique feature of the studio suite is its floor to ceiling windows and two-person spa bath from which guests enjoy views out to Mt Lofty, allowing guests to enjoy nature at its best.
• The Villa
The Villa was designed as an authentic Mediterranean-style country retreat, overlooking a lemon grove and vineyard. Outside, a private terrace and garden with pillars and wrought iron furniture complete the European villa theme.
Adding to the unique characteristics of the Cottages are comforts and attractions such as quality linen, spa baths, open log fires and reverse cycle air conditioning, as well as fresh flowers, antique furniture and quality fittings.
