Introduction
Housed in the completely refurbished Life Boat house on the harbour front in St. Ives, Alba is a smart seafood restaurant, well established now and renowned for its contemporary menu produced from local produce, Cornish beef, Line caught fish and seasonal vegetables.
Alba is a medium size restaurant that seats 60 people comfortably in a relaxed informal dining area set over two floors. Upstairs there are panoramic views of St. Ives bay and the coastline beyond. Downstairs there is a large glass window that allows the diners to watch the chefs at work and look out on hustle and bustle of the busy seaside streets and working harbour during the summer.
Grant Nethercott, Head chef and proprietor, keeps the menu changing seasonally, and loves to use a variety of local ingredients from local fishermen, farmers, foragers and even herbs from his own garden. Grant trained at a 2 Michelin starred hotel in France, so it's not surprising that many of his dishes have a classical French influence.
Our menu features a contemporary mix of world cooking with quality ingredients dishes such as Wild Bass, braised fennel, puy lentils & sauce epice or Fillet of cornish beef, confit of shallot, wild mushrooms, parmentier potatoes & tarragon jus. Finish your meal with one of our home made sweets, Clementine créme brulee, home made turkish delight ice cream or a selection of Neals yard cheeses.
We have a carefully selected wine list, with over 80 bottles, many half bottles, and at least 20 by the glass. We don't believe in high mark ups on wine, so some bargains can be had!
