Founded in 1984 the recreated 28th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment is one of the largest and longest-serving Civil War living history organizations in the Northeast with members in seven states. Based in New England the reenactment unit portrays the "Faugh a Ballagh" 4th Regiment of the Irish Brigade which served in most major eastern theatre engagements from mid 1862 until the war's conclusion - including Antietam Fredericksburg Gettysburg and the Overland Campaign of 1864.
