Introduction
Geoscience Services (GeoServ) is a veteran owned small business that specializes in engineering geology, hydrology, geomorphology, and soils and applies knowledge of defining and specifying how earth materials, processes, and structure interact with and impact construction projects and the environment.
The firm has completed geoscience and engineering projects for tribal, public, and private clients in California, Washington, Nevada, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and Arizona.
In 2012 and 2013:
GeoServ helped assess, design, and construct a large storm damage road repair project.
GeoServ designed and oversaw several stream channel restoration, road decommissioning, and stream-road crossing upgrade projects in northern and central California.
Geoserv helped several clients successfully develop and implement Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Water Pollution Control Plans (WPCP) for construction projects.
GeoServ completed several erosion/sediment source inventories and analyses for private and public clients in northern and central California.
GeoServ led one of four sampling crews tasked with collecting bedload samples during a Trinity River high flow release.
GeoServ completed several geologic investigations for rock pits, building foundations, and landslides.
GeoServ practices geology in accordance with standard industry practices for Business and Professions Code section 7800 et seq. (California Geologists and Geophysicists Act). GeoServ carries 1 million dollars of Umbrella, General Liability, and Error and Omissions (2 million dollars aggregate) insurance policies.

James Fitzgerald
Engineering Geologist (2436)
Mr. Fitzgerald is a professional geologist with education, knowledge, and experience in the fields of engineering geology, hydrology, groundwater, geomorphology, and soils. He has over 18 years of work experience with an emphasis on projects in the western U.S. In addition to his experience working for the U.S.D.A. Forest Service and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a journeyman earth scientist, he has experience working for universities and consulting firms on a wide range of projects for vegetation management, wildland fire, road/building construction, hydro-power, erosion and storm water control, and watershed restoration/channel restoration on lands managed by the private sector, tribes, local, state, and federal government agencies.
